We know that visiting a dentist isn't routine for everyone.

Dr. Azaruddin Savanur

Dr. Azaruddin Savanur is an orthodontist and the owner of Dental Destination.

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) through Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, at SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad, in June 2010.

Dr. Azaruddin subsequently completed postgraduate training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, with an MDS qualification from STMU, Russia, in 2015.

His additional training includes an Associate Fellowship in Laser Dentistry from AALT, Singapore, along with certifications in Implantology, Cortico-Basal Implantology and Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD).

His main clinical focus at Dental Destination includes braces, clear aligners, bite correction, tooth alignment and dentofacial orthopedics.

For patients considering orthodontic treatment, his role isn't simply to make teeth look straighter. Tooth movement also needs to be considered in relation to the bite, available space and long-term stability.

Dr. Nikhil's clinical background is in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, covering surgical conditions involving the teeth, jaws and surrounding facial structures.

He completed his BDS at Yenepoya Dental College, Mangalore, followed by an MDS at SDM College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad.

His professional background includes international clinical experience with the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman, as well as previous faculty experience at SDM College.

His areas of expertise include wisdom tooth and other oral surgical procedures, maxillofacial trauma, jaw tumours and cysts, TMJ disorders, facial asymmetry, cleft lip and palate, and oral cancers.

He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (MFDSRCS) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MOMSRCS).

His surgical background is particularly relevant when a condition goes beyond a routine dental extraction—for example, an impacted wisdom tooth, jaw cyst or another problem requiring oral and maxillofacial assessment.

The first job is finding out what is wrong.

We don't believe every dental concern needs the biggest treatment available.

Sometimes a stained tooth needs cleaning rather than whitening. Tooth pain doesn't automatically mean extraction. A crooked smile doesn't automatically mean one particular type of braces. And not every wisdom tooth has to be removed simply because it exists.

That can involve discussing symptoms, examining the teeth and gums and using appropriate diagnostic information where required. From there, the dentist can explain suitable options and what each one involves.

Patients should also be told about relevant limitations and aftercare. Dental treatment makes more sense when you understand not only what will be done, but why it is being suggested.
